THIS IS A WALL
Materials: Fabric, Thread, Red Paint,Tapes
Form: Mixed Media Installation, Collaborative Project, 2017
This is a collaborative project inspired by images that play with visual misalignment. We were particularly drawn to street art pieces that create optical illusions, like paintings of a shark appearing to leap out of the ground. These works often trick the eye into perceiving a 2D painting as a 3D object, making the artwork seem realistic and three-dimensional.
Our goal was to create a similar effect, making viewers believe that our piece is a three-dimensional form projecting from the wall rather than simply a 2D painting on its surface. We aimed to evoke this sense of visual misalignment, giving the impression that the artwork is 'popping out' from the wall, and creating an immersive experience through illusion.
